Rugby inspires ex-Battler’s return to AB

When former Alderson Broaddus student Devin Andres heard rugby was coming to AB, he knew it would change his life.

Andres left the university following the end of his freshman year in 2017. He transferred to Grove City College in Pennsylvania after his spring semester, but the experience caused him to feel sadly estranged.

However, AB still held a special place in Andres’ life. When the news  of the upcoming rugby program broke, he immediately reached out to coach Lauren Miller to express his interest. Now, Andres is back to play rugby at AB. Continue reading “Rugby inspires ex-Battler’s return to AB”

Homecoming triple-header lined up for weekend

Alderson Broaddus University will cap off its homecoming week with three back-to-back games tomorrow at the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium.

The triple-header will kick off with AB’s football team taking on their conference opponent, Lake Erie College, at 1:30 p.m. This year, the Battlers are 1-4 on the year with a win coming against Glenville State College, claiming the I-79 Barrel Classic. The Battlers are currently ranked eighth overall out of nine teams in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. With only six games remaining, all of which are competition within the GMAC, the Battlers still have a chance to make the playoffs. Jalen Jackson leads the team in rushing yards with 314, while Maurice Thomas leads the team in receiving yards with 330. The leading quarterback for the Battlers is currently Joe Czelusniak, with 74 completions for a total of 881 yards and seven touchdowns.

Defender-turned goalkeeper finding success in the net

Alderson Broaddus University women’s lacrosse senior goalkeeper, Fallyn Gonzales prepares for her last season on the field with her  teammates.

Gonzales holds a record 188 saves over her three years playing for the women’s lacrosse team. Gonzales was recruited as a defender, but ended up being the Lady Battler’s starting goalkeeper.

Men’s soccer sets sights on GMAC finals, NCAA tourney

AB student has Super Bowl connection

If you thought My Cousin Vinny was a ‘90s comedy film, you’d be right. But for Alderson Broaddus communication major Hadassah Curry, my cousin Vinny is none other than Philadelphia Eagle’s defensive end, Vinny Curry. The newly-crowned Super Bowl champ is seen posing with Hadassah in this 2015 photo on the left.
