Alderson Broaddus offers several options for anyone wanting to join a Greek organization—seven different sororities and fraternities, to be exact. AB has a variety of national and local organizations as well. Lexie Elliot, head of Greek life at AB, sees many advantages for those who participate in the Greek community.
“The benefits of Greek life are that it provides an opportunity to connect with people outside of the classroom or sports team and build friendships based on leadership, service, and mutual respect, create a close bond with the institution and classmates, and it ties you to the school, giving you a reason to come back and see your brothers and /or sisters,” Elliot said.
Elliot also says that members get to participate in activities such as, Greek week, service opportunities, social events, and cookouts.
You must have 12 credit hours at AB to be eligible to pledge to any Greek organization on campus, but they take pledges at the beginning of each semester, so if you are not eligible this semester you always have next. Below is a list of the certain rush parties for each organization and times. You can also see the flyers posted throughout campus.
